Motion Simulation Ltd, Elite Event

In order to reward the members of our team who achieved ‘Elite’ status and in particular recognise those who achieved this milestone in 2016 Solid Solutions celebrated by visiting our customer ‘Motion Simulation Ltd’ at the Motion Simulation Room in Slough, followed by a celebratory dinner at the Mango Lounge in Windsor!

What is the Elite Programme?

The Elite Programme is recognition of exceptional skill, SOLIDWORKS award the coveted Elite Applications Engineer status to applications engineers who have proven expertise in both depth and breadth of the software.

The entry point to the Elite program is passing the Certified SOLIDWORKSAssociate (CSWA)Certified SOLIDWORKSProfessional (CSWP) and Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert (CSWE) exams, further exams are then taken in packages such as ‘Composer’, ‘Electrical’, ‘Mechanical Simulation’ and ‘FlowSimulation’.

Founded in 2008 by Jonathan Bell, Motion Simulation Ltd provide racing and driving simulator solutions for professional racing, driver training and corporate hospitality markets. Motion Simulation work in partnership with some of the world’s leading software companies to supply their customers the leading edge in simulation software, fundamentally focusing on the core of the simulation software to ensure its physics engine is up to a suitable standard.

We were able to visit the show case Simulation Room which features six full motion, highly advanced TL3 Professional Racing Car Simulators, boasting numerous world firsts in design, hand built in the UK & made entirely on SOLIDWORKS to give the ultimate, life like racing experience.

“Developed through 5 years of intensive Research and Development, working with a world leading automotive university and a world championship Formula 1 team, the Motion Simulation TL3 simulator is the ultimate professional level racing simulator solution on the market today.

Our driver training simulators are designed to be the worlds most advanced with full motion, exceptional ergonomics and accurate driver controls for commercial driver training, driver assessment and more.” – Motion Simulation ltd

The graphics in the simulators are exceptionally realistic thanks to the laser scanning, resulting in accuracy as close as 1mm. The software is integrated into the simulators, and are finely tuned key aspects of the set up to maximise frame rate and performance.

A few of the simulation pods many, amazing features include:

  -         The world’s first portable 200º spherical projection screen with 6m pixel image

-         Pro level flappy paddle gear box

-         F1 standard force feedback steering (shown) with a variety of other specific race steering wheels available. -         Variable tension foot pedals for a realistic throttle and brake feel

adjustable pedals to accommodate drivers from 5ft to 6ft 10!

-         World’s first variable driving position cockpit

-         As used by Professional Race Teams, 3 Axis of motion

Pitch, Roll & Heave up to 2G of acceleration

The layout of the afternoon began with a 15-minute practice drive followed by a 15-minute qualifying race. Congratulations to Chris Louch, who qualified with the fastest qualifying lap time of 1:20 and therefore was the overall winner of the day. This was closely followed by Dave Ashford who secured second place and Chris Boyles in third place.

With special thanks to the team at the Motion Simulation Room who successfully delivered a fantastic afternoon, that was thoroughly enjoyed by Solid Solutions.
